Your money just arrived at our office.

Did you know that each February we have a huge new batch of cash waiting for you to claim?

That’s right. The deadline for financial institutions, insurance companies, and other businesses to turn money over to the State of Utah when they can't locate the rightful owner is at the end of each calendar year. So, just because you've checked in the past, doesn’t mean you shouldn’t check it again.

Use some of these helpful tips to ensure you get your money:

1. Put a yearly reminder on your calendar.

2. Choose a special event or holiday -- like your birthday, Christmas-time or Memorial Day to prompt a search your name or the name of a loved one.

3. Search the site during tax season when you’re already in the mode of gathering documents and receipts for your income tax return.

4. Run a search every time you move and change your address.

It sometimes takes several years before a claim shows in our database. So, just because you didn't find your name last month or last year, it doesn’t mean you won’t find your name today. Go to to search today. #mycash

I found an unclaimed paycheck from Sports Management. As I filled out the questionnaire, it appeared to ask for my address, though it seems I suggested the (fomer) address was a place I owned. I just want to know how to claim my paycheck. I called within business hours but you claimed you were closed.
